Clarice Assad Visit At UT

A visit with Clarice Assad

Clarice Assad, our students, and staff at UT-Austin BSOM before UT Symphony Orchestra rehearsal.

Students from our school partnership program, East Austin College Prep, spent the afternoon at The University of Texas at Austin Butler School of Music earlier this week. They got a chance to visit again with composer Clarice Assad (who presented a class at EA Prep earlier this past spring) and watched the amazing UT Symphony Orchestra rehearse the world premiere of Clarice Assad’s new work entitled, Baião ’n Blues.

Baião ’n Blues was commissioned by KMFA Classical 89.5 as part of Clarice Assad’s collaboration this year as their second Draylen Mason Composer-in-Residence.

Students and staff watching in anticipation!

Special thanks to UT Symphony Orchestra guest conductor, Maestro Douglas Kinney Frost and Clarice Assad for being gracious hosts. We’re also grateful to KMFA Classical 89.5 for arranging this visit, especially Anthony McSpadden and Guillermo Delgado.

Check out the show 4pm on Sunday, September 24th in Bates Recital Hall at The University of Texas at Austin Butler School of Music. Hope to see you there!
