PATRICK SLEVIN

Since launching Austin Soundwaves in October 2011, Patrick has grown and developed the program to serve more than 300 students in grades 1-12 across seven sites in Austin. He received degrees in Music and Urban Studies from Northwestern University and subsequently completed the “Sistema Fellows Program” at The New England Conservatory. Patrick has taught in over 15 El Sistema inspired programs in the United States, Mexico, and in Venezuela. He is a past board member and Governance Committee Chair of El Sistema USA and is a member of the Community Advisory Board for KMFA Classical 89.5. He has worked for The Center for Study of Art and Community, The Center for Civic Engagement at Northwestern University, and the Alexandria (VA) Commission for the Arts. Patrick performs regularly with the Bravos Valley Symphony Orchestra and the Round Rock Symphony and has performed with orchestras and in festivals around the country, including the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Illinois Philharmonic, Texas Music Festival, Chautauqua Music Festival, and Castleton Music Festival.

JULIE FAULKNER

Julie graduated from St. Edward's University with a degree in Communications and a minor in Spanish/Graphic Design. She has always had a vested interest in the nonprofit sector and has worked at other mission based organizations such as the Central Texas Food Bank, Side by Side Kids, and Active Minds. She is currently a mentor and volunteer with GirlForward Inc. and works as a freelance web designer/photographer. Julie is also passionate about creative writing and self published a book of poetry in 2014 called Fragments.

HERMES CAMACHO

Dr. Hermes Camacho is a composer, conductor, and violinist based in Austin, Texas. His music has been performed throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia and has garnered awards and recognition from the National Endowment for the Arts, American Composers Forum, among others. Camacho is currently Lecturer in Music Theory, Aural Skills, and Composition at the University of the Incarnate Word and is on the teaching faculty of Austin Soundwaves, where he leads the wind ensemble and music theory programs, and teaches orchestra, violin, and viola.
