Austin Soundwaves serves student musicians across the greater Austin area, providing diverse opportunities for learners of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences. We work with more than 1,400 students through 34 school partnerships and community programs every year.
WHAT WE DO
We work with elementary, middle, and high schools to launch, grow, and enhance their in-school music programs. In line with our vision of a world without barriers to music education, which starts with ensuring all schools have equitable in-school music programs.
We invest in our Austin community and engage with local musicians of all levels through numerous community offerings that encourages lifelong learning and empowers students of all ages to achieve personal and professional success. This includes the Mariachi Para Todos, Draylen Mason Fellows Program, Festival Series, Private Lesson Program, and Summer Music Camp.
HOW WE DO IT
We provide a variety of music education services through our school partnerships and community programs. Our highly-trained and experienced teaching artist staff provide in-school teaching at our many partner schools, leading sectionals, group lessons, or directing the band and orchestras. After school, we lead individual teaching with our students through the Private Lesson Program, direct ensembles like Mariachi Para Todos, or offer opportunities for intensive creative youth development through programs like the Draylen Mason Fellows Program.
Our program and education staff also provide mentoring and coaching for students and school teachers, as well as help support new and emerging programs develop locally and nationally through services we offer like Sounding Board.
All of our services are backed by qualitative and quantitative data coupled with over 10 years of experience working successfully in the Austin area community.
